Let’s Go

We’re going to walk you through every step you need to take to get your Dads and kids Bible Study going.

Beginning and organizing your first Dad and kids Bible Study

Pray. Ask the Lord to help you make this Bible Study happen: Lord Jesus, Your Word says that You could have no greater joy than to hear that Your children are following the truth (3 John: 4). I know it’s my job to help them do that. Will you help me find other Dads and their sons and/or daughters who will do this Bible Study with me and my son and/or daughter?

Ask. Ask God to give you the name of 3-4 Dads who will commit to start a group with you. Ask Him to give you favor when you talk with them.

Talk it Up. Once you have a core group, begin inviting other Dads/kids. There are several ways to go about doing this:

  • Talk it up at your son’s soccer game
  • Have your daughter invite her friends and follow up with their Dads
  • Send an e-mail to your son or daughter’s class and invite them to join your group

Decide on a day and a time for your first Bible Study. We find that before school works best. If mornings aren’t doable, find the time that works the best for those who you’re inviting.

Decide on a location where you’ll meet – a home, a school, a church, a restaurant, etc.

Decide on the LESSONBOOK that you want to use for your group. Practice Ministries lessons are written for a range of age appropriate levels. Click here to go to the Lessons Library. All you need to provide is your name and email address to download our lessons – there is no charge to register/download or use the lessons. All we ask is that you consider making a gift to Practice Ministries.

Decide who will lead the first lesson.

You are ready for your first Dads and kids Bible Study. You have your core group, your first meeting day and meeting location, and the LESSONBOOK you want to use. You’ve invited other Dads and their kids to join you*. On study day, open the doors and have fun teaching your sons and daughters God’s Word!

* By the way, please consider inviting a child whose father, for whatever reason, is unable to come or participate. It’s a wonderful way to include this boy or girl in your group where he or she can “adopt” a dad for a morning.
